On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed into law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (P.L. 111-148) (i.e. “PPACA” or “Obamacare”). One of the main purposes of this health reform law is to expand healthcare coverage for all citizens. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, employer-sponsored health insurance is the primary source of health insurance in the United States and, as recently as 2008, “80% of the uninsured have some connection to the workforce.”
