Gabriel Imperato, managing partner of Broad and Cassel’s Fort Lauderdale office and co-chair of the firm’s White Collar Defense and Compliance Practice Group, will be a featured speaker at the Health Care Compliance Association’s (HCCA) Audit & Compliance Committee Conference.
Imperato will be presenting on enforcement actions. His discussion will include a review of historical trends in enforcement actions and the future outlook, the application of the Anti-Kickback and Stark law through the False Claims Act and the prospect of individual liability for organizational compliance deficiencies.
Imperato has practiced health care law in both the public and private sectors for more than thirty years and is Board Certified as a specialist in health law by The Florida Bar. He is also certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) by the HCCA. Imperato has served as a longtime member of the board of directors for HCCA and the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE). He is currently the First Vice President of these organizations.
The conference will take place February 24-25, 2014 at the Montelucia Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, AZ. The conference is designed for board members and members of a board Audit and/or Compliance Committee of not-for-profit health care organizations. Compliance officers and other senior leaders in the organization are welcome to accompany board members. Attendees will learn the impact of health care reform on regulatory risk and compliance obligations, how to fulfil their fiduciary obligations as board members and how to improve their board performance.
