Attorney Paul R. DeMuro Ph.D., of counsel in the Fort Lauderdale office of Broad and Cassel, has been reappointed as Chair for the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Finance and Investment Committee and will serve a two-year term.
AMIA centers on leading the way in transforming health care through trusted science and promoting the advancement of informatics through education and vocation. In addition to chairing its finance committee, DeMuro is currently participating in AMIA’s Ethical, Legal & Social Issues Working Group.
A member of Broad and Cassel’s Health Law Practice Group, DeMuro focuses his practice areas on corporate, health care law and information technology. He is admitted to practice in 10 jurisdictions, including California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New York, Oregon, Texas, Washington D.C., Washington State and Wyoming. He is also a CPA with an MBA in Finance, holds a master’s degree in biomedical informatics, is a former National Library of Medicine post-doctoral fellow, and most recently earned his doctorate degree in biomedical informatics through Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine in Portland, Ore.
DeMuro is an active member of various professional organizations and has held positions with the American Bar Association, the Medical Group Management Association, the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the American Health Lawyers Association. He is currently a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives; the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; the International Bar Association; and the Health Care Compliance Association.
